DVI-D Plus USB 1.1 Extender
DVI-D Plus USB 1.1 Extender
Black Box doesn't compromise DVI-D and USB 1.1 extension over a single fiber Hallbergmoos, August 20, 2009 - With the new ServSwitch DVI-D Plus USB 1.1 Extender from Black Box, the IT and telecommunications specialist, video data across the entire resolution range from 640 x 480 to 1920 x 1200, including HDTV (1080i, 1080p), can be transmitted without compression and in real time, and over distances of up to 400 meters on a single multimode fiber. Moreover, the device allows the transparent extension of up to four USB devices and stereo audio signals, and is thus ideal for a wide range of applications, from digital signage applications to industrial automation and control systems. The transmitter (TX) unit is characterized by its low power consumption, receiving its power via a local USB port. Six optical infrared lasers convert the DVI 1.0 compliant video data and the USB 1.1 data to laser light pulses, which travel along the multimode fiber. The receiver (RX) unit can be placed at up to 400 meters distance. Apart from providing essential EDID information for operation with PCs, the ACS2500A also supports the HDCP protocol. Thus content encrypted with this form of copy protection, such as, e.g., from Blu-ray discs, can be transmitted without problems. Since the local unit is equipped with a DVI-D feedthrough port, a display can also be connected at the computer's end. By using a second USB port at the PC, it can even be controlled locally. "High-resolution content and displays have almost become the norm both in the industry and the digital signage sector these days. An increasing number of companies also rely on fiber optic cablings, as they provide long range at low cost", Axel Bürger, Managing Director of Black Box Deutschland GmbH, explains. "Our new DVI-D Extender takes this into account by transmitting video data over a single fiber - in real time and without compression or delays. Even at several hundred meters distance, the image quality is thus preserved one-hundred percent."
