Wireless LAN Kits 70 GHz
Wireless LAN Kits 70 GHz
Rain or shine, Black Box transmits at 70 GHz All-weather network connections over up to 900 meters at top speed Hallbergmoos, June 10, 2009 - Linking two networks via wireless all-weather connections at gigabit speed is now possible with the new Wireless LAN Kits 70 GHz from Black Box. Unlike the 802.11a/b/g-standard, effective speeds of up to 1,000 Mbps are possible with the new 70 GHz wireless technology. At the same time, and in contrast to the FSO/Laserlink technology, the influence of the weather on the transmission quality is minimal. Ranges of up to 900 meters and beyond are thus possible without problems. Although the widely used 802.11a/b/g-standard is easy to install and supported by numerous devices, its popularity also raises safety concerns: almost every notebook and every PDA comes equipped with this technology and could be used to hack into the network. Besides, a maximum throughput of only 65 Mbps can be achieved. The FSO/Laserlink technology on the other hand puts high demands on installation accuracy: only if the alignment is 100 percent accurate, error-free transmissions are possible - provided the weather is clear. Especially fog and rainfall seriously hamper the availability of this technology. The new WLAN Kits 70 GHz allow an effective throughput of up to 1,000 Mbps at a range of at least 500 and 900 meters respectively - with an availability of 99.9 percent. "We're proud to be among the first suppliers who offer this new technology", says Michael Wüst, Product Manager Networking at Black Box Europe. "It combines the advantages of the currently used standards without showing their deficiencies with respect to speed, installation or dependency on weather." The kits are now available from Black Box.
