Black Box: crystal clear images over distances of 10 kilometers New DVI-KVM switch matrix ServSwitch DKM for reliable switching Hallbergmoos, January 21, 2009 - The new digital switch matrix ServSwitch DKM from Black Box, the IT and telecommunications specialist, allows for top-quality KVM switching between DVI/USB computers and remote workstations with DVI monitor and USB-HID peripheral equipment, without attenuation losses or blurry images. Even at the maximum distance of 140 meters (via CATx) and 10 kilometers (via optical fibers), respectively, the high video resolution is retained - just as if there was a direct connection. Moreover, with group switching and transmission, connections of computers with several graphics interfaces to consoles with more than one display can easily be implemented. With the ServSwitch DKM, it is for the first time possible to provide full performance USB 2.0 in the matrix, both with CATx and optical fiber over KVM signals. High availability is ensured in transmission-critical environments by using redundant power supplies, which can be exchanged during operation (hot swap). By creating user profiles, unauthorized access to the consoles or servers in the network can effectively be prevented. Moreover, in high-security environments the switch can be fitted as an entirely fiber-optic matrix to prevent sniffing. The device supports DDC, USB HID, as well as DVI-D video up to 1920 x 1200 at 60 Hz over the entire range and can be upgraded for the transmission of stereo audio signals and serial data. "For the ServSwitch DKM, we have not only attached great importance to a high transmission quality and security features, but also to convenient operation", Axel Bürger, Managing Director of Black Box Deutschland GmbH, explains. "Apart from a hotkey control with ergonomic channel selection, the switch boasts a sophisticated, intuitive menu to assign designations to the devices connected and for the configuration of the entire system. Besides, the device can be remote-controlled from any media controller via the DKM front display or via the RS232/V.24 and TCP/IP interfaces, respectively."
